Begging to differ with this week’s Groundhog Day verdict, our gardeners are expecting the spring flowering season to arrive early this year.

No cherry blossoms yet—these pale-pink fragrant flowers are of the Dawn Viburnum (click for HD wallpaper size).

This maple in the shadow of the Garden Pavilion bears the nickname shishi gashira, or lion’s head—calling to mind the shaggy masks worn by traditional lion dancers.

Perhaps surprisingly, with some maples at the end of their run, many have just begun to turn.
