PORTLAND, Ore. – December 2, 2020 – With the Governor’s new orders, Portland Japanese Garden will re-open Friday, December 4. Like so many local businesses, the organization was temporarily closed due to the mandated statewide “freeze” to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
For many Portlanders, the Garden’s closure was disappointing. “Taking a moment to self-nurture and disconnect from the chaos is especially important right now. There really isn’t another place that’s quite the same,” says Gayle Robertson, a volunteer with Portland Japanese Garden.
Following the strict orders from Governor Brown, the organization is implementing additional precautions to help create a safe environment for visitors, including a reduction of people on site by 65%. Tickets will be limited, so visitors are strongly encouraged to book their tickets online prior to their visit.
Having a Garden Memberships can help secure hard to come by tickets. And in a year that has been tough for Oregon’s attractions, an annual membership remains a great gift this holiday season. Robertson agrees. “I’ve been coming to the Garden since I was a kid. It’s cared for me for so many years…now it’s time to give back while I give to others!”
