Virtual Symposium: The History of Diverse Artists in the White House Collection

Portland Japanese Garden was honored to co-host a virtual seminar to discuss a significant moment in history – the White House acquiring its first Asian American art piece, an Isamu Noguchi sculpture, for their collection. Aki Nakanishi, our Arlene Schnitzer Curator of Culture, Art, and Education, alongside experts from the Isamu Noguchi Foundation and the Japan Society highlighted the art, the artist, and the meaning of this moment.
