Golden Crane Society Opening Reception

Fashion and Fantasy: The Art of Netsuke Carvings

Golden Crane Recognition Society Members are invited to the opening reception of the first new Pavilion art exhibition this year.

Experience the world of netsuke, marvelous miniature Japanese sculptures that have long captivated wearers and collectors alike. Originally used in pre-modern Japan as functional accessories, each piece is intricately carved from materials such as bone, stone, or wood.

This exhibition celebrates a recent gift from the The Netsuke Collection of James R. Coonan, Denise C. Bates and Lurline C. Menzies showcasing a selection of these exquisite works.

Please join us for a special preview event and experience firsthand how these small carvings can break the boundaries of time and place to connect us to heartwarming stories from another era, thousands of miles away.
